Toncoin TON’s UAE Golden Visa Promotion Faces Scrutiny from Crypto Leaders
The Open Network (TON), a blockchain platform associated with Telegram, has ignited controversy with its offer of a 10-year UAE Golden Visa in exchange for staking $100,000 worth of Toncoin (TON) for three years. The deal promises a 3-4% annual yield and extends visa benefits to family members, with processing reportedly completed in under seven weeks through UAE-based partners.
Changpeng Zhao (CZ), former CEO of Binance, cast doubt on the offer's validity, pointing out that Golden Visas typically cost around $1,000 via agents and highlighting the lack of official endorsement from UAE regulatory bodies such as VARA or ADGM. "Trust but verify," CZ advised, stressing that such initiatives should be backed by official government announcements.
